The Little River Band is an Australian rock band whose founding members came from the Melbourne suburb of Hawthorn. The band achieved international success, with 17 consecutive Top 40 hits in the United States between 1976 and 1981, including four No. 1s. They have sold more than 30 million records.

The band's founding members were Graeham Goble (vocals, guitar), Beeb Birtles (vocals, guitar), and Phil Manning (guitar, vocals). Graham Russell (guitar, vocals) and Ric Formosa (guitar, vocals) later joined. The group was formed in March 1975 as Mississippi, with Birtles, Goble, and Manning. The name was changed to Little River Band the following month. They were signed to EMI Records in Australia in November 1975 and released their debut album, First Under the Wire, in February the following year. The album peaked at No. 5 on the Australian Kent Music Report Albums Chart.

The band's first single, "Curiosity (Killed the Cat)", was released in November 1976 and peaked at No. 8 on the Kent Music Report Singles Chart. Their second single, "Long Way Home", was released in February 1977 and peaked at No. 3. The band's self-titled debut album was released in the United States in April 1977 and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments of one million copies.

The band's third single, "Lady", was released in May 1977 and peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. It also topped the charts in Canada and reached the top 10 in Australia and the United Kingdom. The band's second album, No Reins, was released in August 1977 and peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. The album was certified gold by the RIAA for shipments of 500,000 copies. Birtles, Goble, and Manning reunited as Little River Band in 1997 and released two albums, Where We Started From and Christmas Album. The band's eighth single, "The Other Guy", was released in 1998 and peaked at No. 47 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The band's ninth album, Cuts Like a Diamond, was released in 2002 and peaked at No. 145 on the Billboard 200. The band's tenth album, Time on My Hands, was released in 2006 and peaked at No. 146 on the Billboard 200. The band's eleventh album, The Distance, was released in 2010 and peaked at No. 132 on the Billboard 200. The band's twelfth album, Caught in the Act, was released in 2014 and peaked at No. 163 on the Billboard 200.
